I don't know about yooz, but the site has been slow since last night for me.... and I'm getting pretty fed up about it too. I plan to seek a new hosting company and make a switch at the earliest opportunity. This is a networking issue, not a hardware problem, so nothing will be lost. I'll keep you posted as progress is made.

It has slowed down since last night and right now is absolutely lethargic. I am not complaining, just empathizing.

Yes, I have actually resorted to opening more than one tab so I can read on one tab and have the other one accessing the next page!

Good luck in your search Phineus.

It is a little slow for me as well... but, nothing I can't live with.

My husband gets so agravated with the computer when it slows down... He is such a "Type A" personality! ... You know the type that yells at the microwave, "Boil, @&(*& you, BOIL!

But, with a job like mine, I have plenty of time to wait for the pages to load. Very Happy

It has slowed down even more in the last few hours. I had "connection timed out" twice just trying to log in.

I should add that in trying to download from the shared site my average speed was less then 30kb/s (slower than dial-up). Something certainly has changed.

Okay, so now I want to know if Gigasize.com is running through the same service?

I've had trouble with that site for the last two days!

Just another question in a long line of them! Wink Wink

Slowed down for me too, also I have to log in every time I come back even though I have the box checked for keeping me logged in.

I believe it's site specific. I think Phineus has the right idea. To bad it has to happen or had to happen.

Update. I've been sounding out potential hosts but nothing definite yet. The good news is that as long as the site is up then there's no reason to panic. The bad news, of course, is that we're still too slow.

For whatever it might be worth, when we changed in the summer, the company at that time was relocating to a new building and we got lost in the shuffle - it was probably a tactic to raise the rent. Unfortunately, the new company has proven less than reliable. Their networking stinks, and the hdd crash, if that's what it was, at the beginning of october is too much to put up with. We can't be down every six weeks. This go 'round, they tell me they too are relocating to a new building.... only they hadn't planned to tell anyone - I guess they didn't think anybody would notice. The upshot of it all is they're history, enough is enough, and we'll find a new home just as soon as I'm half-way confident we'll be in better shape. Nothing comes with guarantees, of course, but we strive for an inkling better than hit or miss.

I'll keep you posted.

Preview of things to come??

"Consumer and corporate use of the Internet could overload the current capacity and lead to brown-outs in two years unless backbone providers invest billions of dollars in new infrastructure, according to a study released last week."

Appreciate your diligence keeping our homeypage up @ running, Phinny Cool

I did a test download and hit 186 K/s - not top speed but the best since wednesday. So, I hope the immediate crisis has past, and we can downgrade the situation from emergency to urgent.

I'll keep you posted.

[ edit ] I think I jinxed it.

Thanks for the update. I had jury duty Thursday, so missed the slow down. When I tried to access OTR 154 this AM Monday, 3 December, at 8:40 EST, could not do so.

It's 19:41 here in the UK, my broadband speed test says I'm currently getting 1.6 mb/sec... and I'm managing to download from the Shared Site at 3.94 kb/s (slower than my dial-up)!
