324

The number of members who have not made a single post.

I was surprised it was so large.

No conclusion - just sharing.

I am ashamed, it must be the fault of Sharon and I!

We have scared them all and they are afraid to stick their heads out of the sand and at least say, thank you for every thing you have done or even blank you! you're all weirdos!!!

How did you count them?

I think on Jan 1st I should delete all logins with zero posts and make any active visitors re-register as a precaution against abuses.

Consider doing this regularly, say monthly or weekly. You don't have to register to browse. So zero posts means one thing: no uploads and no thank yous.

There can't be very many 'zeroes' that either upload to the shared site without announcing or send PMs as thanks in the group of ungrateful leachers.

I think that is a good idea. Maybe if you put up a post stating that as an intention then it would be interesting to see if the number reduced.

It's difficult - we don't want to discourage lurkers as they often turn into good contributors and we know that many like to lurk for a while. Maybe delete logins with zero posts where the login is older than, say, three months and repeat the exercise every three months. Is that a plan?

I knew about the 'sort by post count' but didn't think anybody had the time or energy to actually find the end of the zero list :p

I agree. And the time based delete is a good idea because it gives newbs an opportunity to work in their own way. I know many lurkers, including myself on other forums, and none that I'm aware of would object to reregistering their own login, especially when it helps cut down on abuses - it's not like they're losing their post count or anything.

So... it's a plan.
